In the heart of northern Munsö lies Bona Gård, where Adam and Cilla, together with their family, manage a farm with roots stretching back more than 300 years. With great care for nature, the animals, and future generations, the farm currently produces beef, game, and grain. Bona Gård exemplifies how tradition and innovation can unite in modern agriculture, focusing on soil health and long-term sustainability.

The well-being of the soil is a central priority on the farm. The fields have not been plowed since 1997, and direct seeding has been the cultivation method used since 2008. Minimizing soil disturbance preserves soil structure, benefits microbial life, and keeps carbon in the ground. This long-term work has yielded valuable insights into how soil fertility and resilience can be built up over time. The family’s goal is to create resilient farming systems capable of meeting future challenges while producing high-quality food.
