He began his wine industry career in 1991 at Leo Buring in the Barossa Valley and has worked both North and Southern hemisphere vintages in production. After Oxford University Richard worked in fine wine, followed by the London On Trade with Boutinot, before stepping into the UK Off Trade, with Berkmann Wine Cellars. 12 years at Bibendum Wine Limited, and as Trading Director he led a team of 150 people covering all segments of the UK market and Europe. In 2013 Felix Solis asked him to set up a UK subsidiary for their family owned wine business. Today this company accounts for 37.9% of the UK Spanish wine sector and Richard has helped forge several innovation projects including disruptive growth brands like the guv’nor.
