Carsten Höller
Carsten Höller uses his training in biology in in his work as an artist, concentrating particularly on the nature of human relationships. Doubt and uncertainty are recurring themes in his work, often being expressed through investigational situations, participatory sculptures, and influential environments to produce unique experiences that often are attained through personal exposure.
Höller’s works have been shown internationally over the last two decades, with most recent solo exhibitions including Sunday at Museo Tamayo, Mexico City (2019) and DAY at MAAT, Lisbon (2021). In 2008, Höller ventured into the restaurant world with The Double Club in London (2008/09)—which took the shape of a bar, restaurant, and nightclub designed to create a dialogue between Congolese and Western culture as an experiment in cultural integration. In 2022, he opened Brutalisten, a brutalist restaurant with a minimal amount of ingredients per dish, in Stockholm
