Dr. Robert Strand

PositionExecutive Director of Responsible Business, Berkeley Haas School of Business

Dr. Robert Strand is the Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business and member of the faculty at the Berkeley Haas School of Business. He also holds the title of Associate Professor with the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark. His research and teaching compares U.S. and Nordic approaches to sustainable and socially responsible business and, more recently, he has broadened attention to compare and contrast American and Nordic capitalism. He is currently working on the book project Sustainable Vikings: What the Nordics Can Teach Us about Reimagining American Capitalism.
Prior to joining academia, Robert spent a decade in industry with IBM and Boston Scientific in a range of roles in manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, strategy, and investor relations. He holds a Ph.D. in corporate social responsibility from the Copenhagen Business School, an MBA in international business from the University of Minnesota, and a B.S. in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He was a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to Norway. With his spouse Sarah, Robert is the proud parent of two wonderful boys, Mikkel (7 years) and Jonas (5 years). He values a good sense of humor and kindness above all else and when that obituary is eventually written, Robert hopes those qualities could potentially be said about him.
